Having had my Sony 2m digital camera for 4 years due to its fool proof operation and pleasing results, the time had come to upgrade. Being unbiased, I researched across the brands before finally choosing the Ixus 55 based on consistently positive reviews (and the fact I tested it in the shops)!Great overall size, screen is big and crystal clear and best of all is the fact it is so simple to use and produces great shots! There are many options available if required to take every type of shot and the movie mode is very, very good.The price is fantastic (especially compared to the high street) and combined with free postage + unbelievably quick delivery you will struggle to beat ishoppe!Genuinely no negatives for this camera - except you will need to buy a bigger memory card (only 16mb provided) and a case!

Having read reviews by others about this camera, i entering into purchasing one. The size is great and the screen is clear and large. The features are easy to use and its not hard to grasp how to use the functions. I was immensly pleased with my photos produced on my very first attempt and can't wait till my holidays. The video function is also really good as it also has sound! and my pictures of snow and my daughter building snowmen turned out great wether it was sunny or at nightime/dust. All in all highly recommened for first time users of digital cameras and those of us who want the luxury of great pictures without all the technical wizardry to work through!!

I had unfortunate experiences with a couple of HP305/307 cameras (1 lost on holiday, breaking on/off switch replaced under warranty and accidental damage to LCD screen which would have cost more to repair than I paid) I also found that the upload to PC was flaky and the rechargeable batteries ran down incredibly fast.When looking for a replacement, I studied magazine and user reviews and chose the IXUS55. Costing half as much again as the HP but still very competitive, it is a completely different class of camera. I have rarely been so pleased with any item of equipment. It is compact, easy to use, has powerful features and feels like a really well engineered product. It performs particularly well in low light and slow exposure \'difficult\' conditions.I fitted it with a 512Mb SD card and am taking brilliant pics and video clips. The quality of the images is sumptuous and I am delighted.I agree with other reviewers that the lack of battery life indication is one of its only shortcoming

I spent ages researching on google and other places to find the best digital camera under £200. I was quite clear about what I wanted - good clear pictures, good zoom, easy to finger options clearly displayed, large screen that was clear in sunlight, compact and easy to fit into my handbag, easy to download onto my computer, easy to change batteries, lots of pictures on one 'thingummy' no changing little bits of plastic all the time. I and my friends are amazed at the quality of pictures I have taken. Whether it is bright sunlight or down by the harbour at night every picture is a winner. I cannot rate this camera highly enough - I think it deserves 10 stars!!

I have always trusted Canon as a brand for best picture quality when taking pictures. The clarity and compactness of the Canon IXUS 55 is excellent, along with other features - optical zoom, pictbridge, 2.5" LCD. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking into purchasing a digital camera that is great for price and features that it includes.
