Panasonic blows the big name competitors away with this model digital camera. This is the only compact digital camera on the market to offer 6x optical zoom. It is also the only camera in this price range equipped with image stabilization and all for under $300. The picture quality is simply remarkable. Camera has both simple menus for the novice user as well as many manual controls and advanced menus for the pro.The camera is super fast, not only at initial startup, but also shot to shot pictures. Huge 2- inch LCD display with great battery life. Excellent camera with lots of features, good design, compact and very light weight. I have no regrets neither will you.

I checked the reviews at amazon.com and learned this is the most popular camera in Japan (at least when it 1st came out a few months back). I think the average of a dozen reviews was 4½ stars. No one had anything really bad to say about it, so I decided to buy one. This shop had the best price, and i got it with free shipping.

After having a generally positive experience with the 4-Megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ1, I decided to try the, otherwise similar, 5-Megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2. After all, it is difficult to find a combination of 5-Megapixel resolution, 6x optical zoom and optical image stabilization in a compact body for a rather low price.
